i have woods all in the back of my house so there is no shortage of them. i went in the woods today and i found a perfect top on one of the trees, but it is still living and it would be better for bigger birds.
(B.T.W- did you get my PM?)

yes, once butch comes out and i can take the cage down and clean it good, i am going to start putting in new perches of all different sizes (i dont want my babies to have bad feet when they grow up). that why i love the branch perches, because they are never the same size, and the rope one will just be more comfortable for sleeping etc. and as i always did with pumble i will rearrange the perches and toys and switch them put and put them in differently when i clean the cage, which is once a week because i use paper shredding.

yeah no one really uses paper shreds. it keeps the sides of the cage bottom clean, if i used a sheet of paper, then there would be poop on the bottom and on the grate. and we all know how hard poop it to get off. i think if i switch to a sheet of paper the fids would be scared when i clean it. they have gotten used to a big hand with a clear glove on, going in the the cage and taking the bedding out, then putting new stuff in. it also helps absorb the water that spills because i move their cage so much

true, and i might think it would be safer to use than wood shreds, but don't quote me on that!

i agree. the wood shaving i use for the rabbit have an odor compared to the paper, and even if it wouldnt harm the birds, i still wouldnt feel right putting them in. the closest thing i put to wood shavings in the cage is wood pellets made for animals. i only use them when they are molting thought so i can see and collet the feathers . and about a week before cleaning i spread some out to air out, that way by the time i clean, they dont smell

aspen and kiln dried pine are safe to use, but it needs to be changed daily because bacteria grows fast on it
