Ouch ouch ouch. Seeing those pictures makes my heart hurt. I'm so sorry. Thank you and I'm sorry it does. It isn't my intention to upset people, I just want to share it with people that will understand better than others

Sorry to hear about Candy . I have a 14 year old Shepard mix that has developed a growth in his mouth. I adopted him as a senior two years ago when his owners abandoned him when they left for China. He's been on two weeks straight of antibiotics and strong medication for pain. He's due in for surgery soon to see if it's cancerous. I know I will be heartbroken if it is but I'm happy I could give him a home for his last few years of life . It's really kind of you to take an older dog on, not many people would or do unfortunately but what people don't realise is they still have just as much love to give you regardless of their age and they can be just as fun. Candy was very energetic up until that day. She slowed down a bit with age but even when we first got her at 9 almost 10 she could run for days! I really hope your dog gets the all clear and it goes away, that must be making you nervous Let us know how you get on! Thank you Thanks! Well we brought Grandpa in again, we named him Grandpa when we adopted him. Unfortunately the news isn't good, they won't do surgery because of his blood counts. They told us we could bring him into town for cancer treatments ie chemotherapy or we could just give comfort care, pain meds and let him live out the rest of his days at home, considering his age we opted to do that instead. They put him on prednisone, tramadol and more antibiotics. I think if Grandpa were a human and could voice his own opinion on either going for chemotherapy which would cause him more stress or being at home to pass on he would choose to be at home and not have to go through any of that. He has lived a long life at 14 years of age.

I'm sorry to hear of the situation but I definitely think you did the right thing. I worked at a vets for about a year and it broke my heart to see animals going through it. Owners do it out of love but I think it's more so for their personal gain and because they can't imagine letting go, which is obviously understandable. He's obviously well loved and you only have his best interests in mind!

It isn't easy to make these types of decision. I'm sorry it isn't going well for him but at least you can spend his last months with lots of love and care. He's very lucky to have you.
