Chicks of 2015! (1,041 views)

As I hadn't kept up with my breeding diary with a ton of other things going on I've decided to just show you the chicks I've produced this year, I'm very proud of all of them! I've kept a lot back myself but many have also gone to their new homes now. I have been very picky and turned quite a few people away this year, you never know where they're going to be. It's so great seeing so many nice and dedicated people come and get their babies though! So many of them bought one as a companion for a lonely bird they already own or they bought them in pairs so they wouldn't be alone. It's been an awesome year so far with tons of chicks, most are now going down for their second clutches and then I'm done for the year. I've got chicks and eggs coming out my earholes haha! 

Without further ado, I'm going to start with my gorgeous violet black masked lovebird chick. Unfortunately, s/he was the only bird to hatch out of that clutch and when I tried for a second clutch they left the nest. Definitely not going to try again now until next Spring. They're very happy all chilling out in the aviary with the black cheeked lovies too. This chick I have kept myself and is unfortunately nameless as of yet (in fact, they all are!) and I am hoping to send off the DNA before next season so I can find a mate for him/her. S/he grew up so fast it's unreal

Okay so here come the budgies! There's a lot more of these guys. I didn't try breeding anything else this year as I haven't had the time. Still, I hope you can appreciate how cute these guys are. I won't be posting the photos of them growing up because I just drove myself crazy trying to put them in order haha. I will state the parents and the mutations of the offspring

I already have a lot similar and as I'm breeding for mutations I tend to only keep the babies that are a little more different so that the following season I can breed from them and so on. I'm trying to keep more violets, 'rainbows' in short haha, yellow faced and heavily pied birds. I'm also looking to source some grey budgies the next time I go to the big bird show we have once a year (October). I really want some YF greys and some pieds of all kinds. Love them! All of the ones on here that don't say kept have already sold I'm also not done listing them haha, I just ran out of time yesterday!

It's a shame we are on two different continents! I know a lot of people on forums that would kill for one of my chicks, sucks that I'm in the UK haha. My original intentions were always to move to Florida but it won't happen I don't think. I don't think I could ever give up the birds I have now to move. More chick pics coming up!
