this was made for a parakeet. the sizes would need to be increased for bigger birds 
here is what you will need:
-jute (or bird safe) rope. i cut the rope to fit me cage for hanging length. cut extra just incase!
- a 'ring' cut off from a paper bag (1 1/2 inches then cut into 1 1/2 x 1 inch)
- printer paper (optional) (1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inckes)
-a clip to hang it with, mine was plastic chin that i cut a slit in
-beads
-cardboard squares (1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches)
- hay
- a paper clip 'needle', shown in second pic
- and a cute and fuzzy rabbit named Snickers!!!!!

thread the needle with one LONG string, folded in half. put on 3 (+) card board square to the desired length, knot at the bottom of the squares and take a second piece of rope and it it on the knot below the cardboard squares.
cut the paper bag ring into 1 1/2 in. x 1 in rectangles. i did not use this many, again it depends on the toy size. and just for texture i took the top off of 2 cardboard rectangles and later poked a hole in it.
i took the paper bag squares and folded them in half and but a slit in the folded side with scissors to make a hold to thread them on. once they were on i crinkled them.
i put the wavy cardboard in there too. when i got to the length i wanted i tied a knot, put a bead on (for color
and tied another knot.
the next one was easy, put a bead on- tie a knot.. etc. remember that tying knot takes up a lot of rope!
the next one i took a cut square of printer paper, folded it in 1/2 2 time on the same side and pinched it in the middle to make it easier to knot around. also to make it easier, i tied the knot, then put in paper in, then tightened it.
then take on end and unfold it a little, to make it more interesting looking
so its more visually attractive, i put beads between the paper and knots
for the hay, i took a few pieces and i folded it in half to the desired length and i ,again, made the knot first, then put it in and tightened it
and just because i couldnt resist (:
i threaded some hay though the top cardboard
i pulled it through just enough to get the needle unhooked, then i pulled the other side to hide the hay on that side
and lastly, tie some extra pieces of rope at the top so no one gets there head stuck in there! and YOU. ARE. DONE!!!!
