well i guess everyone has their own 'weird' pet, and mine is crayfish! i have 2, one i have had for like 4 years and the other i just got this summer due to the death of my HUGE one. she i a marbled cray and the weird thing with marbled crays is that they clone themselves, yup you heard that right! they are all females and reproduce by parthenogenesis, meaning the eggs dont need to be fertilized. so all the babies will have the same spots in the same places :eek: so this is her first batch and it will be a fun adventure for me

anyways...
so the other day i was looking in my crayfish tank and i noticed my marbled crayfish has eggs!!!!! yay babies on the way. i am prepping the tank for the little babies who will hatch in about 2 weeks and will start exploring about a week after that i have also put blue incandescent lights in her tank so she doesnt get too stressed out with the bright lights. i am soooo excited!!!

aww its not that bad... ;D.... until someone puts on in a nearby pond and they take over your house!!!!! but its only mrabled crayfish so dont worry

some crays are really pretty. i like the blue crays and i saw a red one in a fish store once! they come in so many colors

our stores dont sell crayfish i used to catch the wild ones as a kid lol

i do that when i go to maine! i got a crayfish trap, but i caught a fish each day in it instead. they were very pretty

i catch them by hand LOL thats me though ive been that way since a kid
