much better posts on here than i got on the horse forum it was all going well until someone decided that it was soooooo wrong to have a whip in western and to have my reins snug. FALSE...... I'm sorry you (horse forum people) don't ride the same horse and dont know how tight or loose you need the reins.... annnd im sorry you (HF poeple) think that ever horse that is western can neck rein with loose reins and can go with the slightest tap of the heel..... ugh people....

ok i will put a link in the staff section... i read some of the posts (ok like all of them to my friend) and even she was giving me "what the?" faces, like "are they serious???" they even insulted her on the last pages thinking that she wasnt experienced enough.. and she has dealt with a ton of horses and has owned them all her life and broke the one she has now, so yes she is experienced!!! and she uses a crop (whip) like me and she keep her reins a little tight too. but i personally think every body in comparing Angel to the perfect western, stereotype- loose reins... well i dont know how to describe it but i think they are thinking of a 'reining' horse. they can to a lot with the shift of the foot or slight pressure of the reins.. all with loose reins. reining (random vid i found, Not mine!) you can look up more vids of one person doing their own routine, but you get the point- a "perfect horse" Western Reiningand as you will see, these people seem to think using a crop in western is like a sin or something- its not. some horse need it to get/ stay going and this horse does. they think that if you truly want to be western, then i should "ditch the crop". well if i did she wouldnt listen to my kicking- i have tried when she get tired and it doesnt work. with also think i should loosen my reins. again as you will read they think i am confusing her with "tight" (they aren't that tight, they just look it) reins [telling her to stop] while kicking her [telling her to go]. BUT they aren't as tight as they seem and she is not confused and she needs snug reins or else she will wander.. and for the record.. they have tight reins in engligh.. so wouldn't that mean that they "confusing" their horse???!?!?. but they dont seem to grasp that concept. and every one that rides her eventually uses the crop, even her owner and a trainer!! i have a lot more comments and good points but that could go on forever.... but anyways just read from start to finish and tell me what you think. while reading keep in mind that it is not "safe" to have loose reins and that she NEEDS a crop oh and that i am going to try and loosen up at the canter because i know i am stiff let me know if you have any horsey questions about a post. link in the staff section!!
