Toy parts i recommend from MySafeBirdStore.com
**all pics are from MSBS's website**
this is limited to the ones have gotten; i will first put the ones that i like and recommend, then the ok ones and ones that i wasnt happy with or unsure of.
Parts I like
1 inch plastic rings- an interesting part, but i like them
plastic gem rings- i like using these as spacers or just something for them to move around
heart and star rings- i get these rather than the normal plastic hook for hanging toys, they are cheeper and i can get more (i make a lot of toys)
pacifiers- i get mine from AC Moore because they are cheeper, but i do like adding them to toys
1" birdy bagels- my guys dont play with them, but i do think they are a nice addition to toys
finger traps with crinkle paper- i get 4 free ones wil my order, but i did actually order some last time. they are a nice shredder and can be cut without them falling apart
colored ratan balls- similar to the regular vine ball but are tighter wound and "thicker". i made a pumpkin toy (soon to be posted)
natural root- i ordered 2 to test them out, and im glad i got them. an interesting piece, not hard but not soft, very shreddable, semi-hollow
2cm vine balls- i LOVE these! (ok the birds love them, not me) they are perfect and the birds like to chew on them. i get the 50 packs because i use so many
4 cm vine ball- i do like these too
6 cm vine ball- everyone likes it when one of these is stiffed with hay!
vine rings- another favorite of mine
jute sticks- a favorite!! these are chewed in less than a day.. and hey, if Butch chews on them, anyone will!! (the ONLY thing he has ever chewed!)
overnight bag- i just got one, i made a shredder basket (soon to be posted)
1" palm shredder- no bird owner should be with out this!!! everyone loves it, i alway have it on hand and i order it with every purchase
sombreros- bobby likes chewing on these, if they were cheaper, i would get more
7" vine twist- i get the bigger ones because you get twice as much for only 10c more. not as liked as the vine balls.... i think the girls would like them more. you can cut them with out them coming apart!
3/4" wood blocks- i havent used them yet, i think they will be fun to add, but they won't be very shreddable as far as i can tell
Parts i thought were OK...
small building wheels- even if i got the larger ones, i think i would still struggle with finding a place for them. i think they are best for tops on foraging cups like Casey used the large ones for
little mugs- a 2cm vine ball fits snugly in the mug, i like them, i just have to think of toys to include them
1/16 leather cord- leather is the more expensive thing, so i dont get it. i tested out a yard of this cord, not my favorite tying material... pickles likes to suck on it it seems
1/16 paper string- i like how it stays twisted, and how i can unravel it at the end of a knot
1" duck- i like these, but they dont have a huge purpose, just to be on the bottom of a toy
sneakers- they are really cute, but i have limited use for them (toy pic to be posted)
palm chain- kind of pricey for the length you get. this will fall apart if you cut it! i havent got it since i got the 1' to test it out
coconut rope- im not a big fan of this, i got 18 feet. i have used it for my big rope ladder on the tree. it is very stiff (for a rope), pretty shreddable, but tightly wound
hot air ballon- i got one of theses to test it out, i dont think i would get another unless i had a good idea for one
cane tornado- i was going to get these a while back, but i didn't. last time i did and im not sure if i like them. i have trouble putting them in toys. they would be better as stuffed foot toys for large parrots
cane spring- same as the tornados
rattan moons- love them and kind of love them.....
balsa slats- i like balsa, but i have found that it is cheeper to get balsa sheets at AC Moore and cut them into what ever size i want
Parts i was disappointed in
drilled wood block- i dont want to say i hate it, i was just not expecting it to be so big! finger traps and some cane springs will fit in the holes. i recommend for cockatiels and up since its so big!
braided raffia- as far as i know (depending on how much they like it) i am not getting more of this. i just didnt know what to do with it, so i randomly put it in some toys. it can be cut with out it unwinding.
curly spring- these are smaller than they look! i wast to happy with them
of course these are my opinions and your birds might like them
TOYS!!!
