How to train with the harness (592 views)

So today I went to the park and there was a lady that had 2 Senegal parrots, they are the sweetest thing ever!!

So we had a conversation and she told us that she comes every Sunday so then I told her about my flock. Her birds were clipped without a harness

I want to bring one of my birds there, Casey meanney, we have the same harness! How do I train them to like it?

i would go with one of your youngest birds, who ever likes being handled the most. younger birds tend to accept them better. dally and tsuka started wearing harnesses when they were around 8 months old, they're 3 now.

How many times a day do I train with the harness and how long do the sessions last?

i would take it slow. what bird doesnt mind being held and touched on the wings as much? i would keep sessions with the flight suit once a day for ten minutes, but i would work on getting her used to having her wings touched and reward her with millet every time you touch her wings without her getting fussy.
