My first birds were cockatiels and lovebirds. We got them both at the same time.

My first bird was a blue budgie hen named Jail Bird.

I never knew you had a picture of her. I love the white mark on the back of her head that looks like a cockatiel pied tic mark.

Jail Bird was my best friend when I was just starting high school. As a matter of fact, in my school, when you are a freshman, you write a letter to yourself as a senior and they hand it back to you at the end of your time. I got mine back yesterday and I found a part I wrote to myself that really made me smile. I censored out the other bits. That was back on August 18, 2011. That bird I was dreaming about would be JB herself. She was my first bird and reading that made me really happy. Now I have 4! And I've had 7 since 2011 when I wrote that.

That's awesome. I can imagine how happy you were to read that after so long. Did you forget you wrote that before they handed it to you?

I did. That's why it was such a nice surprise.

My first bird was a male lutino cockatiel called Paulie, shortly followed by a recessive pied red fronted kakariki called Eddie. I felt bad that Paulie was in a cage and so I built my first aviary which lead to more

my first bird was Mr. Pumblechook, aka "Pumble" he was 7 years old when i got him and he was in a small, small cage his whole life with a mirror and a seed diet. his diet never changed, but i did get him a bigger cage with toys and spent a lot of time bonding with him. he gave me a taste of what it was like being bonded with a bird (something i have lacked since i lost him!) he will always have a special place in my heart i hope one day to adopt a conure (or some other parrot) and share the bond with him the same way i did with Pumble

He seemed like a very special bird. I'm sorry you lost him.

I had a nice bond with JB. The budgies I have now I am not bonded to at all. They keep each other company so they don't really need me much.
I am pretty bonded with my tiels, but I miss JB's relationship with me. I had one with my lovebird Teak too.
