Today is the first day of spring! Ahh, where to begin? Trees, flowers, and plants start blossoming. Animals start reproducing. And oh, that reminds me. We also get hormonal birds!!!! Keep an eye on them because this season is their breeding time. We have a hormonal control article on this thread to back you guys up!

Animals start reproducing. I guess that's a nice way of saying everything trying to bang each other.

What are your plans regarding the hormones? I dont have any plans if she wants to mate she can, I will get a nestbox when I get the chance. |

I'm planning to put up the nestboxes tomorrow. My birds start getting hormonal in January/February, but I prefer not to have eggs hatching before April 15. Once the nestboxes are up it'll take them a few days to start popping the eggs out.

So glad I only have one bird. I remember when I had my parakeets. They didn't tell us the genders of them so we were in the cold. I really didn't even notice one pregnant until she started nesting. I was so scared, it was my first time having a bird nest. So I went out and got a nestbox and some stuff for the inside. She ended up having 5 eggs, and they all hatched.  |

That's a lot like the story of how I became a cockatiel breeder. Buster and Shodu decided that they were going to lay eggs, and my only choice in the matter was whether I wanted to be a breeder or an egg killer. I chose breeder.
