Distract them with treats, wear thicker clothing OR move them off it. You can also place a towel on your lap.

Another good technique for bite prevention is to try and figure out WHY the bird bit you, so that in the future you can avoid situations that might trigger a bite. There's always a reason for the bite, even if we don't know what it was. If we know what makes a bird want to bite, we can avoid doing that thing.

Like tielfan said above. There's always a reason. This doesn't mean your bird hates you, but you could have done something to make them a little mad, or they want something. Treats could work very well. Usually you can tell if they are in a mood. You have to remember these animals are new to captivity, they are not like dogs. They can still have the wild side at times. For me to continue and help a little more, can I please have the breed of the bird? Thanks
