I was wondering if anybody on here had a disabled parrot? If so, I would love to see some of your set up ideas! I have a disabled 20 odd year old Alexandrine parakeet who cannot fly and has terrible balance. She has blankets on the bottom of her cage should she fall and flat perches. I have to be careful how many toys she has in case they knock into her. Just needing some creative ideas as I'd like to upgrade it a little bit and make it more friendly for her. It's quite a large cage and she does make the most of the space http://instagram.com/p/BDx23o3r0fJ

Fleece blankets on the bottom. Flat perches all the way man. When I first got Beaker, his feet hurt him a lot due to improper perches. He loved his flat perches. Jaid still uses his. Very easy on the feet and balancing is easy versus normal perches. Provide a lot of rope perches so she can still perch on something semi-soft if she wants to.

That's pretty much what she has! I'm going to try and make like a boing network through the cage I think. The only problem with Asiatics and rope perches is that they last for all of 30 seconds and then obviously they can become a danger. She has them in for like a day or two and I end up throwing them! She has blankets and flat perches. Her balance and strength has definitely improved since having her and she can climb around on the bars using her beak well. I was thinking of getting stepping stone style platform perches for her all around the cage so no matter where she is she can get around comfortably. That or have a shelf along the back side of her cage fairly low down

I've heard success with the walkways. Birds seem to like those.
