Little rant!
Jack and I were finally getting around to doing some unpacking and having a clear out of our new home (seeing as we've been here a year and still not found the time to do it!) and I was sat in the extension/man cave/shed that we have attached to our house (it's like a small building coming off it). Our cat doesn't go outside unless she is on a harness because people are evil, cats kill native birds and wildlife and I always fear for her safety. We live on a very quiet road but the benefits of her being an indoor cat outweigh anything for me. Even the litter tray, my nemesis. Boots decided to run past us when we were clearing out the corridor running from the house to this room and went straight out the door into the back garden. This has happened a few times and normally she stays in the garden for 10 minutes, decides she hates it and then comes back. Not today!
She had ventured into our neighbours garden and I tried everything to get her back. I called her, shook her food, tried to physically grab her but she was having none of it. I decided to go back in and wait for her to be stood outside the door. Now, I don't know who this other cat belongs to but it's an all white one with a few black splodges on it's back. It pops in every day around 3-4pm and has a poop in our garden and jumps over the fence (gee thanks). It's a cute cat, I love all cats, but I no longer like this cat. Boots is fairly cat aggressive but she will avoid confrontation rather than start it. She's more defensive than anything. This absolute a** of a cat jumps over the fence to where Boots is and straight up beats her up. I can hear them fighting but they're not in my garden and the fences are too high for me to see over. I keep shouting her and she's trying really hard to run back and she's making a lot of noise doing so. She comes running over the fence with this a** cat chasing her and he's smacking her tons in the face, claws out! It is NOT a friendly cat at all. I went mad and ran at this other cat so I could grab it and do some banging on doors but it ran away. I thought Boots ran back into the house but I couldn't find her anywhere. Turns out she was hiding under a pile of wood I have in the garden that is going to go to the tip soon after our clear out. I could just see her fluffy butt sticking out and she was really upset. I picked her up and took her into our bedroom (she's never allowed in there unsupervised due to having a tendency of barfing up hairballs where you least expect them) and she went to lay down. She was sulking a lot. I noticed her nose and lower lip were slightly swollen and Jack told me the same thing happened yesterday when I was at work (that she went out not that she got beaten up) and he noticed this swelling too. As we don't see her much around the house I hadn't personally noticed. I think the same cat had beaten her up then too and she's had a reaction to a scratch, though there isn't much there. It's either that or an insect sting
Jack said he thinks she's made it worse herself from rubbing it because he caught her doing it while I was out (which was when he spotted it). I honestly think it's just some mild irritation from a small scratch or bite and she's had a little reaction to it. To be on the safe side I intend on taking her to the vet within the next 24 hours if the symptoms haven't gone. She's showing no signs what so ever of discomfort and she's eating like normal. She has pooped fine too. It looks a little more sore now, but we will see!
I'll post an update when we know more
Here she is when we discovered her swollen nose/lip. Yes, she's a little weird!
