Hi everyone,
well, there probably isn’t anyone here. But if you are continuing to stick around, I would like to help make this forum more active. I have four parrots: two budgies, one cockatiel, and one green cheek conure. I’ll start by giving some info about each of them:
Bluebell - my first bird. She’s a four year old female normal sky blue budgie. She’s the most independent of my birds, but still enjoys sitting near me or doing quick fly-bys. Generally, she doesn’t like to be touched. But that’s okay with me, I love her anyway. Not much to say about her - she likes to spend time in her cage, but will fly out several times a day. She does step up sometimes, but can get a little defensive if you stick your hand in her cage.
Ducky - I got her second. Ducky is a two year old female lutino pearl cockatiel. If I accidentally call her a “he” on occasion, it’s because I thought Ducky was male until I got her DNA tested. Honestly, just thinking about it, Ducky showed none of the common male cockatiel behaviors. Anyway, Ducky is my sweetest, cuddliest, and calmest bird. I call her my perfect angel because she’s never bitten anyone, loves head scratches, happily does what I ask her to do (which includes going in the cage), and loves to snuggle against me. She’s also very smart and knows many tricks, including wave, spin, open wings on cue, go through a tunnel, fly to me on command from far away, fetch a ball and bring it back to me, put rings on a peg, and play basketball. Yes, I’m proud of how well trained she is.
Kermit - I got him in July of 2017, at around 4 or 5 months old. Kermit is a presumably male, yellow sided green cheek conure. I’m not really sure of his gender, but I don’t want to DNA test him quite yet. He’s always on the go, flying from one place to the next, and hanging upside down at every chance he gets. He’s a rambunctious and naughty little guy, too. Always getting into things, and even bullying the other birds. No, he has no intention of hurting them, but he chases them (more like charges at them) off whatever perch he’s on. He can be a little stinker sometimes and refuse to go in his cage, biting and flying away to avoid it. Although he can be quite a handful at times, he can also be very sweet. He loves head scratches on his terms, and allows me to hold him on his back and pet his belly. He can also do some tricks: wave, spin, wings, flip, hang on cue, fetch, and fly to me on command.
Pearl - I think he’s around six months old. Pearl is a male albino budgie. Again, excuse me if I call him a “she”. I thought she was female up until recently, and I’m still trying to switch my brain to calling him a “he”. Pearl was meant to be a friend for Bluebell, but they don’t show any interest in each other so they live in separate cages. In fact, Pearl is more interested in Ducky, to Ducky’s dismay. She flies after Ducky and tries to inch closer as Ducky runs or flies away, terrified. She’s getting better, though. She used to try and land on Ducky’s back, but that hasn’t happened for a few days now. Oh, and Pearl can talk! She says “pretty bird”, “baby bird”, “birdy”, “such a pretty bird,” and makes kissing sounds. She can also mimic Ducky very well and is starting to say “parakeet”. I’ve also heard her say “cheeseburger” once because I play videos of a budgie on YouTube (Disco) and he says cheeseburger, so Pearl learned the word.
Okay, enough about my birds. I would like to see yours!
