Use unfortified oats only too much iron in fortified oatmeal can be bad for birds This recipe the lovebirds get as the tiels dont really touch it too much, though dally had been interested in it. instant oats-plain raisins (can substitute other fruits and even fresh fruits) herbs of your choice (i use chamomile, rose hips, hibiscus, and oregano) red palm oil (optional) seeds (sprouted can be used instead) pellets (optional, can substitute scrambled egg if you do not feed pellets) any dry ingredients can be prepared and stored in a container and you can mix a spoonful of it every morning/evening and add only enough water to make it sticky. this means you can use only what you need. if you add fresh ingredients such as fresh fruit and veggies and scrambled eggs in place of pellets, you will have to make these when you prepare the food but it cannot be stored. Pour in enough warm water to make the mix sticky and serve to your birds.
