tsuka has a weird tail feather... two feathers growing from the same spot....


your thoughts on this? he has a history of busting his tail feathers when he lands, he falls on his butt. he also has a history of bad feathers in his one wing.... but ive only seen one of those recently and it was the first in over a year. however, he has a history of busting up his wings in nightfrights too...


we are definitely considering a vet trip, just wanted some opinions on this and some theories... got work today so he may not be going today.

Hmmmm i dont know what this about but its could be like humans growing two or three hairs out of one pore Thats my opinion but if i were in ur place o would visit the vet to check if this is normal or not its the first time i see this in a bird

I would call the vet and talk to him before making an appointment, this is something he can definitely give you an opinion on before taking him in.

we gotta wait to bring him in, they wont do the online testing from home :-X they will only take it from a vets office

do you think i should pull the offending feather or will it be fine to leave it in?

I would wait to hear the vets opinion, if the feathers are not bothering him

he does preen the area more vigilantly, he seems to chew at it a bit more than his other feathers and he cries out if he touches it.

we pulled it. it was still a blood feather, i worried it would be more irritating when it fully grown in.

i took some photos of it, will add them once they finish uploading

we pulled it because he was picking a bit more at it than the others. best while it was still growing in then when it had deeper roots
