Lately i have been feeding the fids millet by just putting my hand through the small cage door and letting then eat, rather than taking them into the bathroom and training them on hot days. this morning lenny was so addicted to the millet the i could hold it up to any perch outside the cage and he would come to it. i am starting to use the "Lenny Come" command which should help when i take him out to train. i believe that this is one step closer to bonding with him. right after i was done with having him jump all around the cage to give him a treat, once or twice he came over to me still looking for a treat!

butch will eat the millet from outside the cage but he will only eat it if i bring it to him. he is comfortable with me and will come down to eat when i am about to blow out the seed husks, of course he will move to the other side after i tell him 'go over' like 5 times i think they will be well behaved once they come out and are used to the routine. i know for sure that they will have several home made play gyms and toys!! i have it all ready

that and they might have been train before i adopted them. i was expecting it to take less time to train because at the shelter they would eat millet that i was holding in my hand. i started spending time with them and feeding them millet from the first day i got them which was dec 27, 2011. so it has been 6 months of work so far, about the same time it took me to tame/bond with Pumble. but he was easier to tame because of his love for mirrors and he was not with another bird

did you buy them untamed, then let them fly free, then tame them? every body does it that way on the other forums and i just thick it is... inconvenient... because if the bird is not bonded or tamed, then it will just keep flying away from you- if it does not like you. that is why i train in the cage first, then take them out and finish bonding with them.

i let them out, they have came to me before when flighted but due to dangerous situations (regarding Munch and her aggression) both got clipped. they come out for out of cage time. ive let them choose if they want the interaction. mango can be handled hes fine to sit with you and lay in your hand... but hes scared of stepping up, always has been, so we gently scoop him up and hes good with that, but hes mostly hands off. munch comes to us for attention on her own, shes good with that. she now steps up most of the time when we ask. shes gotten pretty good. its fine with us if they stay hands off, we just want then to be happy. with you, i can understand why you will want them tame
