that could be the first new perch in their cage when they come out. which technically i could take lenny out, but i am taking it slow and just getting him on the perch and going right outside the cage door. lat time i trained them, i put a perch at the end of cage right before the cage door and i was trying to get lenny on that.(i that a good idea, or should i just take him all the way out?) he got on once then after the second tine of trying to get on, he just kept jumping off the perch that i was holding. so i made each of them give me a kiss on the finger and i ended our session. (them kissing my finger is always the last thing i have them do. i do in the the session but the get millet for doing it, unlike at the end :

i guess i could try it. i will have to put out a lot of perches. i just hate to do it like that because i get nervous and start freaking out and try to put him back, instead of letting him explore...

They are so beautiful!! I adore the budgies, even if these pics generate inside to me a little bit of sadness because they remember me Filippo; He was a great bird ; I have had him for 4 years and after I was so stupid to provoke his death; Yes I left from Turin for some days to go in Slovakia for job trip; I was so stupid and I forgot to fill his seed dish; I can't forgive myself!! You are lucky to have them; i am so sorry. i dont i will ever forgive myself either. i just didnt have the heart to disturb pumble when he was sleeping in front of his 3 favorite mirrors to put him back into his just- cleaned cage, then i went to the bathroom and i hear a scream, rush down the stairs to find him in my cats mouth. before that moment i never knew what it felt like to have so much of a mixture of feeling that you dont know what to do. i just kept throwing myself on the floor and crying. the worst part is, my friend got her 2 first budgies the day before ( :-X ), and the day after pumble died she just kept talking about her new ones. it was very hard not to cry that day i just cant wait for that moment when the fids are bonded to to me and i can take them out all day long and have an animal that i can not get upset at (unlike my devil rabbit ) and i will be truly happy ;D I'm sorry to hear your sad story; I can understand you; however my story is slightly different by your own story; I'm the guilty for the death of my bird because I have the main responsability due to my unforgivable mistake; in your case it was only a terrible accident; the cat has been the main guilty for your loss; Your new friends are very amazing...I'm sure, you will be able to train them; do you have considered the option to clip their wings? so you can tame easily them.

i was hesitant at first to clip because of the beautiful wing patterns and i clipped Pumbles after her was trained. but then when i was cleaning them, butch flew out and landed on a bar of soap. i washed him with a wet tissue after i caught him and them the next day i called an avian specialist that clips the wings and nails for me at a family owned pet store. since she is only at the store on sunday, she came to my house! and she washed butch in the sink, clipped their nails, and clipped the wings after i realized that it would be easier to train with them clipped. they are each growing back one flight feather on one wing but i am going to wait because it would be pointless to get them clipped for 10$ just for 2 feathers total. other than that their training is going well. lenny is more tame than butch. butch like to do his 'eye pinning' to the perch rather than paying attention to me . but he will give kisses and put one foot on the perch. lenny will give kisses and will get on the perch and i can get him out the just outside door. in the next training session i am going to take him out and put him on top of the cage. thought he will be scared, he is ready for it. this is the one part of the training that i am taking a big step rather than go at his pace. (i have been trying to get him on a perch right outside the cage and it has been SLOW going)
