I've got pictures with words on them to describe how to use a crop needle. I also have a video that I will try to upload later.

I think this pics documentation has been done very well; however I would like to add that this activity should be performed by expert people, because the needle could go in the lungs rather than in the crop;
Anyway it is very interisting!
I would like to see the video as well.

bjknight has been taught how to do this by a professional as she has to medicate this bird. this bird has liver disease and is on the road to recovery, bjknight had mentioned which way the crop needle goes

I'm sorry to hear about Bjknight's bird;
I hope he can recover as soon as possible, in mean time I'm sure that Bjknight is doing the best for him;

yeah, bjknight is very kind hearted, she rescued this bird knowing she had problems. Allie is an awesome bird, she is so gentle and sweet.

Yes guys; I was shown, in person, how to do this for the benefit of Allie. Allie was having issues after I was medicating her. She would hold the medicine in her beak until I released her and then would shake her head to get it out of her mouth. It would get into her sinuses and she would have trouble breathing for a few hours following.

The medicine ordeal stressed both her and I out so I decided to use a crop needle. It scared me a lot at first..but after the first time I used it on her and we were both not stressed AT ALL afterwards, I knew that was our secret to medicating.

I expected a disclaimer to be writen on this, so in case it is not clear I will write my own:

**DO NOT USE A CROP NEEDLE WITHOUT PROPER DEMONSTRATION AND TEACHING. IT IS RISKY AND CAN BE FATAL IF DONE WRONG. This thread is only to inform people how a crop needle is used, and to ease the minds of people who are approaching a time where they will be using a crop needle for the first time.**

Also, due to my memory card malfunctioning (there goes all those pictures)..I do not have the video any longer to upload. Allie finished her medicine a few days ago, but next time my friend comes over to man the video I will take another video of me inserting the needle and withdrawing it, without the medicine of course.

in my opinion, what you are doing is very important, thus you don't have to expect a disclaimer to be written on this;
The documentation that you posted has been performed in professional way;
the work instruction is very clear!
When I said that this activity has to be done by expert people; it only was directed to all the people that have few experience;
The document that you posted can encourage to people to use this method to provide medicinals through the needle;
It's a good thing,the important thing is to be aware that it is preferable to do it (at least the first time) together to expert personal;
I have appreciated your thread and I have appreciated what you are doing for Allie;
I hope that more and more persons will follow your example!
