I thought every parrot likes sunflower seed but Duke my senegal seems to hate them, he would eat everything in his seed/dried fruit/nut mix but discard the sunflower and the safflower seeds. Has anyone heard of any parrot that doesn't like sunflower seed? I thought this is very strange :-/ The pic below is his seed mix- he'll eat everything that is shown in the pic apart from the sun and safflower :-/

my tiel tsuka isnt a fan of sunflower seeds himself. just a personal preference. but since sunflower does have a lot of good stuff in it in moderation, since he is not getting those extra goodies, you can substitute those vitamins and minerals found in sunflower seeds with brewer's yeast. get some from your local health food store and sprinkle a little on his food each day its also excellent for molting birds and birds under stress. packed with the B vitamins

Ok I'll try brewer's yeast. I have seen you fed your tiels Palm Fruit Extract on toast before - what is this good for? and what other ways are there to feed the birds palm extract?

red palm oil can be put in mash, birdie bread, on fresh veggies.. my tiels just love toast best so its the easiest way for me to feed it to them. its good for vitamin A and E especially and a few other things. here is where i buy it www.mysafebirdstore.com/product.cgi?group=4619&product=4650and what it does: BENEFITS Natural vitamin precursors have been found to have more potent positive health benefits and fewer side effects than synthetic sources. Sunshine Factor: • Is a whole food source of carotenoids (precursor to natural vitamin A, including alpha- and beta-carotene) • Is a non-synthetic source of 6 forms of vitamin E (tocopherols and tocotrienols) • Is a natural, rich source of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) when compared to other oils, which benefits the heart • Has high antioxidant content for immune system support • Contains a good balance of fatty acids • May benefit the animal’s skin, eyes, heart and immune system by strengthening the overall nutritional status • May improve the animal’s energy level, particularly in geriatric, pediatric or weak patients • Is beneficial for all aspects of the skin, coat or plumage, including dry skin, dull hair or brittle feathers • May improve the effectiveness of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs • Is a vegetarian oil that is more stable than flax oil • Is easy to administer because animals like the taste • Is a sustainable agricultural product grown on Fair Trade farms in Brazil. Individual results may vary. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. But brewer's yeast is still good to give along with it.

it's a great food for stress a great expert has recommended it to me and others, and i pass what i learned from her to others. its excellent especially for molting birds, its a good boost and makes things go along easier. i add it to my birds seed mix daily.
