Is this Balsa wood safe for making toys? (958 views)

I have read that birds really like to chew Balsa wood and I have not been able to find any bird toys that are made from Balsa here in UK...so I'm thinking of buying some of these Balsa in to make some toys with - are these safe to make bird toys out of? Does anyone know?

i would treat it with the same caution as any other wood--if it's treated in any way, i would avoid it.

have you tried www.mysafebirdstore.com ? they do sell balsa wood toys i'm a customer here and love them!
