the store sells the cockatiels at a higher price than most around here, even for handfed, BUT, i would buy one for that price from them. i actually LIKE the price. most people who dont know birds, they wont spend $200 on a tiel, but a serious owner might! they do sell fairly fast too.

i paid $80 for dally at a breeder, she was handfed. so $200 is still VERY high, but i like the price for a petstore bird, especially for one of the "throw-aways". i know just anyone isnt gonna pay $200 just to throw away. its a sad thought, but it gives me better hope for the birds in my area. my area is NOT a good one for bird owners. most pets arent cared for properly here.

yeah this i why i dont like when people think keets are sooo easy so they just get one because their $20 (cough, cough.. my friend). they might be more low maintenance than the larger parrots but there is still training and vacuuming and dusting and cleaning the cages. you need to keep their environment clean. sometimes i with even shelters did home checks for birds when i adopted the fids there was another older girl adopting 2 keets and they were he first ones and she brought a cage like you are supposed to. but the cage only had the 2 dowels it came with and thet were so close together. and there was no toys, no nothing. i think they had food and water but im not sure

parakeets are among the worst treated pets out there, which bugs me because they are just so sweet and cute and just as intelligent as the larger parrots

so true! you really have to LOVE birds to get one, which is true for any animal, but i think it means a lot when getting a bird.

...you really have to love birds to put up with Munch haha kidding, i love her regardless of her temperament. she's my little dragon. i had toby only for a short while, but he was just so sweet and quirky. he had feelings and intelligence like any other bird, and he was a great pet.
