so my new bird leon really likes bells and recently i made him a "board "game with a bell part and he loves it. on monday i found out that he will come out to see and play with the toy, so i am starting (as of yesterday) to take him out in the morning before school when i am getting dressed and several times when i come home. but, i found out after a while that if i stick my hand in the cage when he knows the toy is out there he will jump and "play bite" my hand and fingers, then i will not let him out to see the toy and i will start again, doing this with each hand. he seems to not bite my left hand about 95% of the time and will not bite my right hand like 5% of the time. he goes for my thumb and bites everywhere while singing. i think its because he is so excited.when he bites my right hand (a LOT) he lifts his wings which he never does when playing. it is more rare if i just have him come out on his own and then onto my finger. his bites are hard and sometimes unbearable so out of 'habit' i tried to move my finger which leads him to waiting to play bite the "moving objects". after getting freaked out or something and flying around my room (which is not allowed at his level of tameness) i grabbed him and clipped his wings. is there any other way to stop the biting? other than not reacting and not letting play with his toy until he gets on my finger without biting? this is the toy he is obsessed with. the bell with the beads is his favorite. and him playing with it on my new tree

it's breeding season still for many birds, it's possible he is a bit hormonal, and the toy he sees as his mate, and by biting YOU he is protecting IT. so, you can try to reduce his hormones a bit by covering his cage for 12-14 hours a night, rearranging his cage, and such. also, i'd let him only have the toy on the playgym. just for now until he learns to behave himself lol
mango is the same way with his silly ball. he will bite and act tough around it as well.
