Hello Everyone I've been facing this situation for over a year now. I have around 8 Cocktail birds in one big cage from these 8 I have 3 couples and they all been breeding for so long. They nest, wait for the chick to grow for 1 - 2 weeks then I find it dropped out its nest, and everyone attacks + bites it to death! I fed up as I've been witnessing almost 20- 30 cases since last year!. The chicks are totally healthy and fine, they just abandon them, and when I get to take them away, nobody survives because they are too young to be hand-fed. Someone told me that couples get jealous and they try to destroy each other's nests, another person told me that they might not be couples, it could also be a single bird that gets in and throws all babies outside. I just don't get the whole mass killing and when everyone gathers to attack the baby after its been thrown outside. Help !

i think what you might want to do is separate all the "couples" into their own cages and see how they do.
see what parents are knocking their babies out of the nest, and see how things do.
you can pull the babies to handfeed at 2-3 weeks old, it is the best age to handfeed. raising younger chicks is possible, but very difficult!
