Hello I found this abandoned Cocktail chick I'm guessing its less than a week. Tried hand feeding it since I'm afraid to return it back to the parents and they get to kill it as they usually do. I noticed that after each hand feeding session there is this area that gets pumped as if it was a balloon, it is somewhat transparent so I can see the liquid inside it. I doubt it is the chick's stomach though. Can someone please help by telling me what is this area that gets pumped and is it a normal thing to happen? Thank you Attachments:

the balloon area is the crop, that is their "stomach" how much are you feeding, and what are you feeding it? what is the temperature of the formula when you feed it? it is very important to have the right temperature, or you can burn the crop if its too hot, or you can cause slow digestion if it is too cold. i am concerned about the baby's beak, something does not look right at all. i would join this group ASAP for baby advice, they are excellent! www.facebook.com/groups/ICR.unite/?fref=tswe do some breeding advice here, but your case is a bit more advanced for myself as i know the basics on breeding. we have a few other breeders here, they may chime in if they see this, i will message them this thread and hopefully they might have some input
