Hello Everyone Below is a picture of a cocktail bird that is been laying on its back for almost 3 weeks now. Its alive, still moving, parents do feed it, but this front area on its chest is so puffed and I don't know what is it. I don't want to touch it i'm afraid it gets hurt or something. Can anyone please explain to me how can I help this baby? Thank you

i have no experience with breeding, but isnt that where the crop is? could it be over fed or just not digesting it so the crop has become inflated? :-/

the crop looks almost like sour crop, and you badly need more bedding in the nest, the nest should have aspen or pine shavings (about 2-3 inches deep).
i do not know why the baby is on its back, but i am greatly concerned about it as cockatiels are not fed on their backs like lovebirds and budgies are.
i would strongly suggest a vet visit for this one.

The large thing is the babies crop, which to me looks like its full of air. That baby should not be on its back and if you can, you need to turn it around. I would also see about getting it to a vet, if it is sour crop, its very hard to treat. It is not normal for the baby to be on its back.

hi Mariam, like i recommended before u need some serious bedding for the nest as its the most important thing for having a healthy growing chick ( aside from food ). im guessing the fact its laying down on its back is because there is no bedding to support him to balance, so in my theory, when the parents feed the chick the food probably gets stuck in that area so it doesnt get digested in a right way, thats why its bloated like that.
i suggest that u get the bedding for the nest ASAP, gently handle the chick and try laying him on his stomach, also try moving his leg just to check on the muscles, he has been laying around like that for a while and this gesture could effect ( weaken ) his leg muscles.
i also recommend if u could look around for baby droppings, and if possible you could take pictures of the dropping and post them here.
