so long story short.... leons new flight feather was almost grown in and just now he decided that it would be a great time to fly off the tree and flap around on the floor trying to fly away from me and break the feather...... B-| the feather is nearly grown in and so its not bleeding.. its just hanging there. i cant catch him to save my life, as i have tried before he broke the feather. on sunday i am bringing him to get his nails clipped so the lady could probably help with what ever needs to be done. i think our new rule is that there will be no tree time when new flights are coming in -__- what do i do now? i have taken out all the toys that he goes crazy with out of his cage so nothing more can happen... he lifted his wing so i took the chance to get a pic... again its not bleeding, thats just from when the feather was coming in

that one broke right at the root, it's not an easy one, but it's happened to me before. as long as it's not bleeding, it's okay. it will eventually fall out on it's own (via molt, or him removing it) however, if it starts bleeding again, then you need to bring him to the vet so they can remove it. even i can't remove the ones that break off under the skin

it doesnt seem like it broke right off, i am pretty sure that there is a little piece sticking out still. either way its not bleeding so i think we are good. he is young so he grows back his wings much faster than butch does, who is much older. i will keep an eye out of the other half of the shaft on the bottom of his cage. he will be disappointed that he cant come out for a day or so!

my husband and i always joke around about if she ever escaped outside. we'd have to worry FOR the hawks in the neighbourhood, not the other way around lol

haha picture her going full speed at a hawk screaming at 5 this morning.... *flap flap bang!* i think butch just fell off his perch, not even a night fright. i think he just fell poor butch, this is like the second time in a week. i am thinking of switching him back to shredded paper bedding to soften the blow when he falls
