so i was getting cuttle bones for a toy i was making (in the DIY section) at walmart and the first thing i want to say is that the cuttle bones have gone up in price there (like everything else) and they are being sold as "large cuttle bones". thats what is says on the price label at least, but buyer beware that most of them are very small! i peeked in a few and took the heaviest, biggest ones to get the most for my money. the second thing is that i have found 100% natural thin cotton rope to use for my toys at Bed Bath and Beyond. i am trusting it because it is food safe and its 100% natural. it is used to tie up chickens or turkeys, so it is in the food section. $5 for 500 feet! ~Shelly

i just opened up the cotton rope and it is tightly wound on the spool but the string is not very tight. it can still be used for stringing toys onto, where it wont be as visible. it does not fall apart when you are tying knots but it is not spun very tight. it was still worth the price though

the spool of twine i buy isnt too tightly wound, but it works good

i like the cotton though because it is more loose/flexible like the jute, but its thinner that the jute, but it is still thicker than the hemp. i will have to use my needle to thread things on it though. i will have to find time to make toys now with school~~inconvenient!~~ the birds will be cage bound and have less toys so much for training the new ones...
