Since the raccoon attack, Moon has had the worst life ever! It all started with his wing. He kept knocking the feathers out and making them bleed. Then his foot, it was first orange at the tip but when I took him to my room to give him a bath, I noticed that he had a little black bump on his foot with pus. I removed some of the pus but there is still a black bump. his foot. my mom doesn't let me take him to the vet. I'm really stuck!

why can't you take him to the vet? that seems serious i would try to provide a lot of preening toys so he doesn't pay attention to the blood feathers. I'm not sure if it would be necessary, but maybe a collar would keep him from picking at them if toys don't distract him. if you look them up, it looks like some people buy them and attach things and others make them.

Thanks! He doesn't pluck the feathers, he just knocks them out from night frights. My parents don't let me take him to a vet, they feel like it costs more than the bird itself and that I'm treating them like human and that she's sick of them and she wished she never got them in the first place

well, it does cost more than the bird, i costs me $100 every time i take one of my guys to the vet and that not including meds if they need them. but what they have to realize is that it might cost more to go to the vet than to get a new bird, but you can't just replace a dead bird with another bird because it is not the same bird. I'm not sure how to put it, but you get the point. they are your birds and your responsibility. if you still can't take them, then i think you should take him inside (if he isn't already) and make sure he is kept somewhere where he can't break any more feathers at night. maybe put thick fabric on the inside of his cage at night or…. do something that would help stop him from flapping around…. maybe a nightlight and soft music during the night.

are you going to fix your aviary or just keep all of them inside?

The problem was that when the raccoon attacked they were in a small cafe outside (not in the aviary) so it knocked all of his right flight feathers causing him to fly crooked in the aviary which leading to continuesly breaking them. He is molting now so he will grow them all back he can live in the aviary
