Yes, very wet. The French kiss was a little outside my comfort zone though.

Yes their tongues are very wet! The brush is almost rubbery, I can't explain it very well. If you ever experience it you'll know what I mean haha I love lories and lorikeets but they're quite hard to maintain. Very cute, but not a bird I would recommend to anybody. The mess my 5 would make was phenomenal. They had their own room and even with poop-off and F10 I could not get the poop off the walls. It stains like you would not believe. And within 12 hours a cage could go from pristine to absolutely trashed! I have said that when my new bird room and aviaries are sorted I will most likely have another black capped. I cried when I saw them from the same breeder at the last show though. I knew they were Darwin's siblings All of the lories and lorikeets I had except for Darwin all came from the rescue but Darwin was my baby. I bought him from a breeder at a show in 2012? I think it was and he was just amazing. Cost me a lot at the vets mind! It's nice to look back on the videos. I hope the black capped I have in the future will at least be somewhat similar

I would love a either a rainbow lorikeet or a yellow steaked lory, but I simply could not handle the mess. I heard they climb vertically onto the bars and point their butts up and shoot their poop across the room. No way. I could not live with that.
Other than that I just love them.

I never knew they were that messy. I really love rainbow lorikeets coloring. Very colorful.

I used to have a Facebook page for my birds and I got a lot of people say how jealous they were of me owning Darwin. I decided that I'd give the cage a deep clean in the morning and take a photo of it again the following morning. The result? It was even sprayed onto the cage next to him AND the wall, the bottom of the cage was filled with liquid poop and water he'd splashed about from having his daily bath. Note how I had even tried to make it cleaner by putting up a sheet behind the cage to wash daily? Nope. Still found poop above the door frame. Honestly, never get one! I'd have another in a heart beat but as you can imagine, having 5 was a pain in the butt The rainbows are lovely but very, very loud (well all lories and lorikeets are) and high pitched all the time. I had a green naped and a Swainson's Blue Mountain. Awesome birds, a bit standoffish though Edit: In the photo he's hanging off his favourite toy, I have a really cute video of what he used to do to it! He would pull off the toy and beat up the chain!

That's SO messy! I never knew that was even possible for a bird. My 9 cockatiels don't make that much mess in a while week.

Yeah! I have a flock of budgies that is pretty enormous and they only need cleaning out weekly. If you look at the cage in the video you'll notice it is spotless for that fraction of time haha. They poop more frequent than a small bird like a budgie too, which is every few minutes!

I clean my aviary out once a week too. Cockatiels aren't that messy at all compared to the lories. I'm going to watch the video later today.
