Wait, I made a little mistake with what i said. If a male is a visual sex linked mutation (i.e Pearl, Lutino) than all the lutinos will be girls. But for females carrying sex linked mutations, in order to get a visual mutation baby the father would have to either be a visual or a split. Since this clutch has lutinos and the father isnt a visual lutino, that means that the father is split to lutino. There is a 50% chance that the lutino will be a male or female. Also, the birds that aren't lutino will be normal greys unless the mom is split to pied. The dark eyed babies also have a 50% chance of being male.
They say its better to teach a bird to talk before teaching it to whistle.

Thanks for that. You are a great help. I hope you don't mind answering my questions. I am very impatient to get my new baby. I think about it all the time. Being a wheelchair user, I spend a lot of time at home as my husband works. Being bored I think up allsorts. Thanks again

I love answering questions. I know what you mean when you say you constantly think about your future bird. Im pretty sure all of us bird lovers constantly think about our birds in general. How old was Tweety when you got him?

Tweety was 1yr old when I got him. The lady who had him before me got promoted at work and had to spend too much time at work, which made her feel guilty leaving him home alone. She was pleased to give him to me because I am home most of the time which suited Tweety and me! I had him until he was 3yrs old. Such a terrible waste of a bird. He was a real entertainer. I have carers come to see me twice a day. He never cared if he knew them or not. He would fly onto their shoulder and follow him around the place. He would peep over their shoulder and say "watcha doing?" LOL

That's so sweet. At least you can take comfort in knowing you gave him the best life anyone can give for a bird. It sounds like he was very loved. Your new bird will be so lucky to have you! I bet Tweety would be very pleased for you to get a new bird as well. Did Tweety like head scratches?

Yes, he was loved by everyone that knew him. Sadly, head scratching was the only thing he wouldn't allow. Never understood why. It was very frustrating at times as I so wanted to show him affection. Maybe he had a bad experience before I got him. I am pretty certain the new baby will be cuddly tame as the lady hand rears them all from three weeks old. She is a very experienced breeder.

Babies are much easier to convince to accept head scratches than an older birds. I bet your new buddy will be very friendly with you. I'm really excited for you. Keep us posted when the DNA results come in! Do you have a picture of Tweety chewing something? You can enter it in the photo contest entries thread for a chance to win.
