I have read somewhere about the dangers of using Teflon pans near birds. We need to replace our fry pan before we get our new baby. I am a bit confused as to what surfaces are ok and which ones are not. I don't relish having stainless steel as I found that eggs stick to the bottom. Is there anything non stick that is safe?

Have you tried ceramic non-stick pans? They are safe to use around birds. I have heard good reviews on cast iron pans but they are expensive in some places. I hate it when food stick to the bottom. Have you tried using oil on the pan before cooking your eggs?

Over-heated or burning cooking oils can be just as fatally dangerous unfortunately! Where will the bird be kept in relation to the kitchen? As long as the bird is far away and the area very well ventilated then you shouldn't have issues but it's always better to be safe than sorry

I never knew that, Daisy. Thanks for pointing that out. Are oils like canola included?

I'm not entirely sure so I don't want to say but I believe that any oil that is over heated or burnt is a respiratory risk. I have just looked into it but I can't find anything on that anywhere, sorry!
