My fiance and I are big on filming and photography so going to Loro Parque is a dream every time. I have been now about 6 or so times and I am obsessed with the Island of Tenerife. The Loro Parque Fundacion are leading in parrot conservation and Loro Parque has the world's largest collection of psittacines! Although the video does have some non-parrot elements, I thought everybody would like to see it anyway Just a little side note ~ I know there are captive orcas there and I know Jack put a snippet in the video but please don't judge us for visiting Loro Parque. We go there for the parrots, not the cetaceans. Unfortunately, since the movie Blackfish, Loro Parque has had nothing but criticism and it annoys me because it's like nobody seems to know that they are a parrot park. When we visit, everybody ignores the parrots and goes straight to the orca or dolphin shows. It's a shame, but I think it's the main thing drawing people to the park. I posted this video on the BirdTricks Facebook page and loads of people commented about keeping orca in captivity and I for one know that is it wrong but it isn't going to stop me visiting all of the parrots. I hope you can understand

That place looks very fun! I feel like people are being very babyish about this. Sure, maybe keeping orcas in captivity is wrong but it shouldn't stop you from going there. That's just taking it too far in my opinion. You are allowed to go wherever you want. It's not like you are keeping them in captivity yourself. You took those shots? You have amazing photography skills! The video looked like a professional took it. I like the background music you chose too. I just want to let you know that nobody will judge anyone on this forum. People can give their opinions but jumping down people's throats will not be tolerated.

Thank you very much! It's nice to be somewhere where I know none of that rubbish will be tolerated. I find forums can be extremely daunting places in most circumstances. I don't even post about my birds any more elsewhere because I'm always freaking out about what they'll say Exactly my point. I can't believe that people who keep large cockatoos and macaws in 5-6ft cages when they live in such large open spaces will complain about orcas being kept in tanks. At the end of the day, who are we to keep ANY animal in captivity? We can't just say oh that can but that can't, it's stupid. At the end of the day, people don't seem to understand that if there aren't animals in captivity, a lot of people wouldn't ever get to see or care about that species. What people who only support rescues don't seem to understand is that if you take away the supply of a desired species, the wild population will suffer as there will be wild caught animals. Black market or not. It's not something we want to see. I get criticized a lot because I rescue birds but I also breed. At the end of the day, it's your choice what you choose to do, nobody else's Yeah we took the shots, haha thanks! Jack's the filmographer and I'm the photographer, though I am getting more into filming. He has tons of other projects he's doing at the moment from things like the Falconry Fair and stuff. He's had the footage for years but he's only just editing things We sit together for hours to work on them though

That looks like a nice place! A very soothing video too.
You saw a kea? I am very jealous. They are pretty much the smartest bird in the whole world from what I remember.

I have met keas a few times and trust me, they may be the smartest but they're most certainly the most mischievous! Here's a couple of videos I have of them

Your completely right Daisy. People can definitely be hypocritical at times. The film that you guys didn't like wasnt bad at all. Only a few shots were shaky but the overall shots were nice and crisp. I like the music you chose on that one too. It's very relaxing, like meditation.

Photography is definitely easier, which is why Jack usually films events and things not me I'm buying a GoPro next week and I'm so excited for it! I'm not good at DSLR filming but any point and shoot video camera I'm fine with and pretty steady. I've wanted one for ages and I've worked really hard to save for this. We got it so we can mix elements of our videos and use both DSLR footage and GoPro footage at the same time. I can't wait to do some under water work with it! Our next event to film at is Crufts. I don't know if the US knows much of it but a looooot of American's attend. It's the world's biggest dog show. I go every year, it gives me an excuse to play with dogs haha! But I will have the GoPro on me so I can use it to get up close with the dogs without being intrusive with a DSLR Thank you! I think his colours look weird without being in sunlight or without a flash. He was so beautiful. Crazy, but beautiful haha

That's so exciting! I never knew what a GoPro was until now. It looks very cool. When is the Crufts going to start?
His coloring looks similar to a snakes. I think he looked awesome. I love that crazed expression on his face. He looks like he's looking for trouble. :heartsign:
