What do you guys think. Should birds be kept flighted or should they be clipped?

I like having my birds flighted. If I am going to keep them in cages I might as well leave them flighted. I say that because I honestly don't like keeping birds in cages, but then again, I like having them as pets, so I try to have them out as much as possible and at least let them have their gift of flight.

I like my birds flighted too. There are times where I do clip for taming reasons but let them stay flighted after their flights grow back.

I can't say I've never clipped before. I have. Mostly when I was a bird newbie though. And then I did for medical reasons involving Beaker's weak wings, but now that I have developed Beaker's wings to the fullest they'll get, I just let everybirdy be flighted.

I keep my guys flighted when I am first training them, since I train in the cage. The day before their first day out, I clip the 5 outer flights on each wing. This is so they don't fly into walls and they learn to stay on the trees rather than flying round and landing on curtain rods or whatnot. After this initial clip, I never clip them again. I don't think it's right to keep a birds wings clipped all the time. They were born to fly and clipping can lead to feather chewing and plucking, and can irritate their skin. There are also ways around it , for example, if your worried about then flying out a door, keep them in a room with no doors leading to the outside. If you want to take them outside, train them to wear a aviator harness

I did actually type out my reply to this and I just checked to see if I'd accidentally offended anybody, but I never sent it anyway haha! I won't say my opinion, I KNOW it will offend people

You can say it. I agree with both clipping and flighted birds. They both have their owns sets of pros and cons. As long as there isn't any bashing (which I'm sure there wouldn't be) than its fine.

I don't mind Daisy. This is a very small group, and we're all supportive of each other's thoughts and feelings.

I personally have mine flighted. And I'm glad I do. He got attacked by a hawk when he was outside (have a cage outside) and the hawk was able to get in, and my bird flew out and started flying for his life. I can't think of what would have happened if he was clipped.
