so i found a perfect tree for Butch (and any future birds) but i need to sanitize it somehow. i was thinking power washing it ??? suggestions? before i trimmed it: then i trimmed the small branches: top view: i added 2 branches (middle) that i will tie on so it is easier for the birds to move around

oh my that's an AWESOME tree ok, so fill up a tub of hot water and vinegar. boiling hot water, fill your bathtub with it with a bit of vinegar added. and then let it sun-dry for a day since it is way too big to fit in your oven. butch is gonna LOVE it!!! i cant wait to see the finished product!

hickory. according to that "well known" list of safe and bad trees, it's safe. hickory trees always have the more interesting branches
