Oh dear, I hope you can resolve this problem. I'm not familiar this sort of thing so I don't know what else to say.

she might just be plucking to make nest material, but she will be on her eggs for another few weeks before she gives up on them. if after she gets off her eggs and has no more nest she still plucks, then i am looking at a habit. if it's a habit, i'm gonna try some non-shreddable preening toys. she's a tough case.... she can't have things to shred or she gets very nesty. even giving her raffia will make her go instantly nesty and then she will lay eggs AGAIN! in the end, if we cannot deter her in any way, we might just have to have a bald birdie and love her all the same. she used to mutilate her legs, so i'll take plucking over mutilating any day. plucking isnt pretty to look at, but its not as dangerous as mutilating. she just might need a heat lamp or some adorable birdie sweaters!!! lol
we got full spectrum lighting, she's on a good diet, shes got toys, and she gets all the attention she wants from both me and my husband. so if it is a habit, i'm not sure of the reason. we'll try to figure it out, but munch is a very determined little bird and if she really wants to do something, there isnt really much you can do about it, she will find a way around it and keep doing it. like, her nesting--take everything away and eventually she just used her seed shells for nest material! she's determined to be a brat lol

Actually I might have something to add. You know how when birds sit on eggs and the part of their body that is resting on the eggs must be bare skin to keep the eggs warm right? She may just pluck because she wants more bare skin to rests on those eggs.
If this plucking had only started since she's been nesting then maybe once all this is over it may not reoccur again.

you can see the mess she has made with her feathers in her nest and photos of her chest and belly. shes plucked a little under the neck, on the chest, and down the belly, she has NO down feathers either. she's a healthy weight though! a tad under for her normal, but nothing major.
