I'm really getting that blue crown conure craving again. Here's why it came up again when I successfully killed it months ago. One reason, I went to The Bird Shop and they had 3 aratinga conures (1 sun and 2 jendays) flock calling the entire 30 minute duration I was there. It really didn't bother me too much, surprisingly. Secondly, I was looking up the cost of my 2 favorite pies, blue headed and maxi. $800 for the BH and $900 for the maxi! I simply cannot afford that. There goes my pionus idea. My dream bird is around $500. Much cheaper compared to the pies. I know that some BCCs only scream for morning and night, like all birds do, and only if there is a lot of commotion going on around them to make them excited. I only say all this because I started thinking, Beck is getting old and if he passes, Poppy will be lonely, then I will have to get another friend for him, and it's going to be a never ending chain of getting a flock for the budgies. I don't know if I want that. Sorry, I'm thinking into the future again. I am just so stumped what to do with the other half of my aviary. I need support.

Unfortunately, all of the aratinga conures have that wonderful set of lungs on them! It's that little macaw like personality trapped in a small body If you want a blue crowned conure, get one! They're amazing birds

Bird cravings are so annoying. I think you should start a flock of BCC's in your new aviary. It's clear that you love BCC's. The only problem would be the screaming though.

I know. I really want one, but I am scared to take the plunge. If I do get one, it would only be one. My dream team: BCC and a cockatiel or 2. That's it. I was going for a pionus but I had no idea. For one bird, that is much too expensive for me.
Screaming is my real concern. In fact, that's the only thing holding me back. I can handle screaming at certain times, but if it's frequent, all the time like a sunny, no way. That's the tricky part. I'll have no idea because each bird is so different. But, based off my research, it appears that BCCs are probably the most laid back aratinga, and only scream if it's the right time and/or excited/scared. I am so confused on what to do. I try to find videos of them screaming but there aren't any. Just them being adorable.

I haven't but I've played with a few! Haven't heard a peep out of them myself unless they're in a flock. I love them though

That BCC looks so cute. I like a human baby but in parrot version
They have those little machines that are about the size of an air filter that can prevent sound waves to go through that room. Have you tried looking into those? If it cant filter all it can at least filter most of the sounds.

Hmm...really? I know techniques to curb excessive screaming. I have courses from professional parrot trainers and experience from real parrot owners in my area, but that would be good to investigate. Do you have the name of it by chance?

I remember seeing them from at least 2 of my therapists and they told me that it was to block our sounds from being heard from anyone behind the door.
