ok sooo $115 later...... lenny got a medical exam. he is a little under weight at 150 grams. then the checked his poop for bacteria- nothing there. and they gave me Baytril to give him everyday. it will require me to hold him to give it to him, which i am a little nervous they also wanted me to get a hospital cage, or as they suggested a plastic tank to keep it warm for him. he is not in the plastic tank which it breaks my heart because he is trying to fly out and they said not to put perched in because that uses too much energy and he needs the energy. so he is going a little crazy. his foot has gotten better even before i brought him. i have to bring him back in a week for another check up. hopefully all this was is a bacterial infection and not liver disease or something like that, because we really dont know how old he is i will post again after i try to give him the meds tomorrow....hopefully it will be as easy as the vets made it look -_-

giving meds is NOT easy, but luckily budgie bites arent so bad (if you've been bit by lovebirds of course lol) how many times a day does he need his meds? hopefully it is just a bacterial problem in the foot and all will be good a tank is good to keep him from climbing around and bothering the foot worse, so i think the tank is a good idea, maybe keep a rolled up tea cloth in the cage for a perch but keep it on the floor. it will be soft and more comfortable for him. keep food dishes and water close for him, keep the floor padded and he should be ok this is how we set up the hospital cage for when Tsuka broke his toe (if i can find the one with Mango too, i will post it here)

when lenny was at the vet they had him in a plastic container and then they showed me how to pick him up with a wash cloth out of the tank it looked pretty straight forward he only gets meds once a day. i will have to get pics of his tank. i have a short tree branch on the ground that he sits on. he is doing a little better. should i get a UV light.. i forgot the name. its so they get vitamins

i will look into the lamps.
i did pretty good yesterday with lenny. a little weird because i never hold the birds. i now know why to hold them around their neck/shoulders so they cant slip out!
